Whirled Pies has had a huge and most excellent upgrade to their sound system and we are excited to be playing there! That has been a tough room over the decades… but they have really aced it with the sound quality this time! Top notch sound sytem and cool light show to boot! Full bar and a great menu for dinner too. We also love that the place is big enough that the people who want a table… get to have a table for dinner or to gather with some friends. They also have couches and tall chairs and plenty of places to take a load off if you need a breather from dancing or want to chat with a friend. All of this and a big ol’ dance floor with plenty of elbow room to do the funky chicken. This is our follow up show from the crazy fun MacDonald Theatre last year in December.
Puppeteers for Fears presents, CTHULHU: THE MUSICAL!, a rock’n’roll comedy retelling of the horror classic, “The Call of Cthulhu,” performed entirely with puppets.

Detective LaGrasse is searching for a murderer. Francine Thurston’s uncle vanished. The only clue to both mysteries is a bizarre statue worshiped by a nightmarish cult. And it’s leading both of them out to sea, toward a mysterious island from their nightmares—and toward insanity. But, you know, with singing puppets.
Puppeteers for Fears, Oregon’s premier rock’n’roll puppet troupe, presents an original show that, in a sensible universe, would be impossible: a feature-length musical comedy adaptation of one of the least musical or comedic stories ever: H.P. Lovecraft’s cosmic horror classic, The Call of Cthulhu—performed entirely with puppets, and a live band.
See noir detectives, dancing tentacles, anarchist pirates, broken-hearted academics, sassy monsters, and more, as they sing and dance their way to love, madness, and possibly the end of the world.
“You haven’t truly experienced Lovecraft’s madness until you’ve experienced it in its truest form: As a puppet musical.”
—The Portland Mercury
“The most blasphemous ritual of singing and dancing since Chicago.”
—SyFy Wire
“I don’t even like puppets. But that was some next-level puppet shit.”
—Susan, audience member

Clear Productions invites you to join us Friday, July 21st at Whirled Pies for an evening with Sam Blasucci and Dan Horne Band.
Tickets go on sale April 14th. Stay tuned for up to date information.
Headlining the evening: Sam Blasucci, best known as one half of the Southern California roots-rock duo Mapache, has recently released his debut solo record, Off My Stars. While writing the songs for this album, Blasucci found himself drawn towards a different instrument than his usual guitar – the piano. He spent his days exploring the piano and fell in love with it, leading him to write some of the most inspired songs of his career so far.
Blasucci’s new songs, such as “Turn Yourself Around” and “Sha La La,” had a Southern swing and classic songbook sparkle that didn’t quite fit with Mapache’s style. Realizing this, he teamed up with songwriter and producer Johnny Payne and recorded the album at Dan Horne’s Lone Palm Studio, where Mapache has both recorded and lived in the past.
Blasucci’s direction to Payne was straightforward: no pretense, no affect, no Mr. Cool. The album features stripped-down covers of well-known songs like Dido’s “Thank You” and The Cranberries’ “Linger,” showcasing his no-frills approach to music. “There was nothing ironic or gimmicky about wanting to do those,” Blasucci notes. “I just really, really love those songs.”
Overall, Off My Stars is a departure from Mapache’s sound, but it showcases Blasucci’s versatility and passion for music. The album is a mix of classic influences and Blasucci’s unique voice, creating a memorable and enjoyable listening experience.
Traveling with Sam and opening the evening is Dan Horne. A Los Angeles-based producer, player and all-around cosmic American troubadour. Dan Horne makes his solo recording debut with ‘The Motorcycle Song EP,’ a 4-track song cycle of original instrumentals and vintage boogie covers. Horne’s first release under his own name synthesizes his talents into a single, playful statement of sound and magic, recorded and performed entirely by him during the Great Quarantine of 2020.
Come enjoy a night of experiential and thoughtfully crafted melodies. Allow yourself to sink into the atmosphere and drift away in your mind as Sam Blasucci and Dan Horne Band guide you through a symphony of emotions.
Come show your love for live music by supporting our local venues and the well deserving artists that take the stage – Catch a show and spread the word alongside Clear Productions!
