Whirled Music Series featuring Missing Mass with Peter Almeida

Listening to MISSING MASS will make you smarter than you already are. It’s been shown that one’s IQ increases significantly while streaming. My name is Peter Almeida. The name of the band is MISSING MASS: an unembedded, four-appendaged, multi-facetted, one-man band. Most of the sounds you hear on these tracks have been recorded live in my studio, with only acoustic instruments, (no samples or tape loops or electronic drum machines). I play the cajon (box drum, with a kick pedal), a snare drum, and hi-hat while singing and playing guitar. This combination of instruments allows me to create a dynamic range in my performances that normally is reserved for larger ensembles. On a few of the tracks, I have gone back to add backing vocals and sometimes bass. On others I have deployed the soft touch of my classical guitar for a sparser delivery.
In songwriting, I tend toward composing with non-linear progressions that arrive through the muses taking me to unexpected places. My interests are diverse as well. I write about love, money, heaven, talking, the human condition, tangled societal issues, and politics. Sometimes these meet in songs. And sometimes it even works.
Enjoy the journey, and let me know what you think.
