Amani began her bellydance journey in 1998 in Osaka, Japan under the instruction of Egyptian dancer and teacher, Nashwa. Specializing in Egyptian Raqs Sharki, Amani began performing and teaching throughout Japan. She also danced alongside Patricia Ruiz as part of the duo,“Zeina Dancers.” Amani made frequent trips to Egypt to study this dance form as well as the folk dances of Egypt. While staying in Egypt she had the opportunity to study with Mahmoud Reda, Raqia Hassan, and Dina.

Amani moved to Eugene in 2005 and has enjoyed performing and teaching here and raising her daughter, Meridian. They have performed together since Meridian was just two years old and they continue to study dance with Claudia Shimmies and Aziza. Meridian is dedicated to dance and studies ballet and jazz at Eugene Ballet Academy. She is also a part of the performance and competition group called Eugene Ballet Youth. Amani and Meridian perform regularly throughout Oregon and enjoy dancing each year as guests at the Oregon Country Fair and the Asian Celebration.
