  • Nicole began dancing in 2007 under the instruction of Dona Mittasch and Mary Lingo. She immediately fell in love with the fluidity and detail, and it was thrilling to discover previously dormant muscles in her body. Since then Nicole has deepened her knowledge and appreciation of this dance through study, improvisation and teaching. In an art form with seemingly endless layers and information, there are always new treasures to uncover and that is what keeps her coming back for more. The last 12 years of dance has led Nicole to a new obsession: removing the inherent ableism that has always existed in the movement arts, and making room for representation of disabled dancers. She has learned so much about effective and ineffective teaching practices in her years as a student, and has had the opportunity to test inclusive methods as a teacher. Nicole plans to continue her research and share her knowledge through workshops and lectures, in order to give teachers and show producers the tools to truly benefit all dancers. Nicole offers two weekly classes: Beginning belly dance on Thursday evenings at Amazon community center, and advanced beginning on Monday evenings at celebration belly dance and yoga. She is also available for performance and private lessons.

MEDGE monthly shows are held at Whirled Pies, 199 W 8th Ave, Eugene, Oregon and are always family-friendly. Our show starts at 7:00pm, and is only $7 admission. Please join us for an evening of music and dance.
