All Tom Petty, All the Time

Petty Thievery is: Bret Levick, Alice Di Micele, Gene Black, Jeff Addicott, Mark Thomas, and Matthew Kriemelman. This is a band of veteran musicians who have joined together to honor the music of Tom Petty. Each bring their love for Petty’s songs and the music of the Heartbreakers to this fun rock and roll tribute.

In the late 90’s Bret Levick co-created and fronted L.A. indie breakout band Gifthorse. His hooky songs have appeared in hundreds of trailers, commercials, video games, feature films and TV shows including Sons Of Anarchy, Lucifer and Shameless. He currently writes, produces and mixes music out of his Talent, Oregon studio and performs live with his original rock/americana band, LEFT.

Alice Di Micele has had a 40 year career as a singer/songwriter and troubadour known for her moving songs, emotive, soulful voice and groovy guitar stlyle. Having released 18 albums on her indie label Alice Otter Music, she continues to tour as a solo artist and with her band Force of Nature.

Ohio native Gene Black first made a name for himself in Detroit rock clubs and recording studios. While still in his teens, he recorded with Chicago blues legend Luther Allison, at Motown’s iconic facility: Hitsville USA. Highlights include 15 years as Joe Cockers lead guitarist, multiple recording sessions with Tina Turner and co writer on top 10 hit songs for Rod Stewart and “Heart.”Mark Thomas is a “meat and potatoes” kind of keyboardist: piano, electric piano, and B3 organ. Formal training in piano wasn’t as fun as gigging, so Mark has been on a quest to experience the energy of live performance as much as possible both on keys and as a live sound engineer and recordist. Mark has been on stage and in the studio with many of his musical heroes including: Craig Chaquico, Justin Hayward, John Mayall, Stanton Moore, Leon Russell, The Subdudes, Robin Trower, Jeff Pevar, Alice DiMicele, and Bret Levick to name a few.

Mark brings a soulful sense of rock and blues keyboards to Petty Thievery that harkens the style of Benmont Tench.Bassist Jeff Addicott is one of the region’s busiest freelance musicians. He studied popular music performance at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta before moving to Oregon in 1996. He currently performs with a wide variety of groups & artists, including: Sage Meadows, Jimmy Pinwheel, Modern Prometheus, Salsa Brava, Q&A, The Wild Goose Chase Trio, Robby DeCosta, & Danielle Kelly.

Matthew Kriemelman is most prominently known as a veteran drummer for the blue man group in Las Vegas from 2000-12, and has performed in the New York and Chicago productions. Matthew honed his skills in NYC’s downtown club scene for 10 years beginning at the age of 18 at iconic clubs such as CBGB’s, China Club, Limelight and the Marquee. Since moving to the Rogue Valley Matthew has become the go-to first-call drummer for studio sessions, local musicians, and producers like Jeff Pevar and Sylvia Massey.

Composed of some of the most ace players of the Oregon live music community, the band makes every show an act of exploration, both musically and spiritually. United hearts and minds blur the line between the stage and crowd – a carnival of human potential. If you’re new to Garcia Birthday Band, their doors are always open, and you’ll recognize it as something familiar when you first walk in: home.

You may recognize the fellas in GBB from acts such as Nine Days Wonder, Cubensis, Shafty, Turkey Bouillon Mafia, The Campfire Boys, Deadhenge, Shadow of Sound, The Buds of May, The Ike Willis Band, Dead Sessions, and Dark Matter Transfer.

Is there an age requirement?

Due to the content of the show, we require all audience members be 21 years of age or older.

Can we smoke inside the venue?

No. This is not an indoor smoking venue. That being said, we DO take an intermission for a reason and what you do once you leave the venue is your own business. We won’t stop you and we aren’t snitches.

Can we smoke with the comedians?

We book the comedians to be comedians. That means they are only required to tell jokes, smoke and tell more jokes. If they want to do the smoking part with everyone, we encourage it. Otherwise, it’s more about creating a comfortable environment for these comedians to smoke without having to worry about interaction with people. Some of the comedians do not regularly smoke and it is important that we keep them relaxed. We don’t want them to have a freak out because one of you is too intense.

We all have that friend.

Brown Stallion is a Ween tribute band out of Portland and Eugene, Oregon. Made up of seasoned musicians that are truly Ween fans, their shows draw from the full catalogue of Ween songs that are imbued with the spirit of the Boognish. The band pays great attention to detail in recreating the songs, drawing heavily on Ween’s live performances anchored by Deaner inspired guitar chops. Brown Stallion puts on a high energy and unrelenting show that reflects the depth of their love of all things brown.

WATKINS GLEN returns to Whirled Pies on Saturday, March 7th with their dazzling mashup tribute to the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, The Band and Little Feat. For this tour, leader “Brother Gabe” Johnson has assembled a special super-group of truly world-class players – Drummer & singer Cliff Porter (Jamcruise AAL, Jelly Bread, Joe Marcinek Band), Hammond-endorsed organist Maxwell Friedman (MFG, High Sierra AAL) and bassist Mark Karwan (Jenner Fox, Quattlebaum) to deliver an extremely danceable and deeply soulful show for you. Don’t miss this amazingly magical night of spirit and song. Doors open at 8pm. 2 sets between 9pm and 11:30pm.

Gooseberry is a Brooklyn-based indie/alternative rock trio formed in 2019, known for their genre-blending sound (indie, blues, grunge, prog-rock) featuring Asa Daniels (guitar, vocals), Will Hammond (bass), and Evin Rossington (drums). They gained traction in the NYC scene, releasing EPs like Broken Dance and Validate Me, before dropping their debut full-length album, All My Friends Are Cattle, in late 2024, showcasing their melodic yet gritty style and earning praise from music outlets.

Verba8tim is an alt-rock band from Eugene, Oregon (Verb8im) known for their big sound and debut album Ask Again Later, and a dynamic Tri-State area cover band playing rock/pop hits.

Jammin’ with the Pros, hosted by vocalist Dona Clarke, is the longest running
jazz jam in the Eugene/Springfield area. It features some of the most
experienced and talented local jazz musicians and jammers. Dona began the jam
in 2018 and the jam has grown into a wonderful community gathering of jazz
lovers.
For each jam Dona puts together a rhythm section trio chosen from a rotation of
eight local, seasoned professionals for your jamming and listening pleasure.
Tonight’s pros are Gerry Rempel, Jon Brex, and Carlito Perez.
Experienced, skilled musicians & vocalists are invited to sit in. Vocalists – please
bring 4 copies of charts in your key.
Every jam is different, and each one serves up a great night of live jazz –
and there is pizza, good food, and a full bar involved!
